Ladder 9 is the Newest Addition to our Fleet. Delivered and placed into Service in September of 2022, This Pierce Velocity Heavy Duty Ascendant Mid-Mount Aerial is capable of responding to a variety of emergency situations. Some of the features of this state of art apparatus include:

Inside the Rear compartment is a compliment of ground ladder as well as special belts called “Ladder Belts” firefighters wear when in the basket of the aerial device. There are also 2 8′ and 2 12′ New York Roof Hooks Firefighters use during fires. There is a total of 170′ of ground ladders on this truck.
At the end of the Aerial Basket is a large water cannon know as a “Master Stream”. This large electronic water nozzle is capable of putting 2000 gallons of water on a fire per minute and can be controlled both in the bucket and the pedestal of the aerial device.
From the Drivers seat a firefighter is able to engage the water pump and aerial device for operation. They can also control the emergency and scene lighting as well as the heating and air conditioning. With the touch screen display they are also able to view several cameras around the truck and make sure the truck is properly placed to set up the aerial device.
The Pierce Velocity cab seats 5 firefighters, a Driver, a front seat firefighter or officer and 3 firefighters with air pack seats facing forward in the back (Shown Here). Behind the front seats are two Medical cabinets for additional equipment storage.
The Drivers Side EMS cabinets is only accessible from the outside on the drivers side. It carries an air pack for the driver as well as a portable radio. It has room for the Driver to store his gear while he is operating or driving the truck.
The Officers Side EMS Cabinet is accessible form both the inside and outside of the apparatus. It carries a medical bag and AED as well as Gas meters and Thermal Imaging Cameras.

Both sides of the cab have identical Transverse compartments. In these compartments we carry a 2.5 gallon water extinguisher as well are “The Irons”, a mated Halligan tool and a flat head axe. There is also a 3′ and 6′ New York Roof Hook in each compartment for easy access.
Behind the Cab is where the pump is located. This truck boasts a 2000 gallon per minute Waterous Single Stage Pump. Above the Pump are two pre connected 200′ hose lays as well as 1 200′ unconnected “Dead Lay” This shows the drivers side pump panel where the pump is operated and controlled.
The officers side pump panel has 1 6″ intake and two discharges as well as the Aerial device Intake. The hose Loads can be easily accessed from both sides of the apparatus.
On the Drivers side behind the pump we carry a variety of hoses including a piece of yellow 5″ LDH (Large diameter Hose) used to hook the pump to a fire hydrant. There is also a portable generator/light and a variety of fittings and adaptors for different sizes and types of hoses.
Between the rear wheels on the drivers side we carry 3 extra air tanks for firefighters to switch out when working on a scene.
Above the Rear wheels on the drivers side is a large compartment where we store a variety of tools including, shovels, a metal saw, a little giant folding ladder and wood blocks called “cribbing” used for vehicle accidents and special rescue situations. The Orange bag is knows as a “RIT” Pack.(Rapid Intervention Team). This holds a 1 hour air bottle and extra air masks for firefighters that may become injured or trapped while fighting a fire.
Behind the Driver side rear wheels you can find two large circular saws, one gas powered and one battery powered. We also carry a 20″ Battery operated vent fan.
The Rear most compartment on the drivers side of the truck carries an array of hand tools including pick head axes, sledge hammers, crow bars and bolt cutters.
In the rear most compartment of the Officers side you will find road cones and a CO2 fire extinguisher.
Behind the rear wheels on the Officers side is the “Jaws” compartment. This contains our auto extrication equipment or commonly called the “Jaws of Life™”
Over the Officers Side rear wheels is a compliment of Milwaukee Battery operated Power tools including a pole saw, Sawzall, Grinder, Light tower, Blower and Grinder. We also carry several extra batteries and an on board charger.
Between the Officers side rear wheels is custom built oil dry hopper which hold 50lbs of oil dry. Oil dry is used to clean up fluid spill at auto accidents.
In the Middle of the Officers side of the truck you will find a tool box, moving blankets as well as plastic tarps, additional cribbing and stabilization equipment for auto accidents.
Behind the pump panel of the officers side are several tools used to connect hoses together as well as hydrant wrench used to open a fire hydrant. There is also a special valve used to get water to the aerial device.

Aerial Operation and Controls in the basketOne of two Storage boxes located on the ladder itself. This box contains equipment and gear used to specifically extinguish chimney fires. The other storage box on the ladder is known as the “Saw Box”. It holds a special Chain saw designed to cut through a roof. This box also has brackets for the Lyfe™ Rescue system. A Stokes basket is mounted directly to the Ladder for use when rescuing a patient from unique location. This unique configuration allows firefighters to place the basket close the ground without having to extend the ladder more than 20′.
The Lyfe™ Rescue Bracket system mounts to the side of basket allowing firefighters to quickly attached a roof ladder or stokes basket to the basket for rescue operations.
